Dr. Yameen Memon, Chief Executive MDC

Dr. Yameen Memon has more than 20 years professional experience in development research, training, monitoring and evaluation, coordination and communication. He has worked for national and international organizations such as WB, ADB, IWMI, UNICEF, FAO, SDC, USAID, Government of Sindh and Government of Pakistan. He has earned M.Sc. and PhD degrees from Iowa State University, USA.

Recently he has worked as Director, Monitoring & Evaluation, Pakistan Safe Drinking Water & Hygiene Promotion Project funded by USAID. The project is being implemented by Abt Associates, QED and AED – (USA based firms). He was responsible for the monitoring and evaluation, capacity building and coordination with relevant stakeholders for the project components. Earlier he has carried out assessment of Sindh On-Farm Water Management Project sponsored by the WB. He has completed comprehensive review and impact of the activities implemented by the local NGO in the Development Area on behalf of ActionAid Pakistan. He has worked as Social Development Specialist consultant with the WB support partner organizations/NGOs for the development of coastal areas of Sindh. He has worked as Project Manager for National Education Survey in Sindh and Team Leader for the Sindh Basic Urban Services (drinking water, sanitation, drainage and solid waste management) Survey, where he trained survey staff. He has worked as Community Development Specialist in SAFWCO a Pakistani NGO, where had to train the members of communities, staff and officials of line agencies in the leadership, organizational management, and other development aspects.

He is lead author of Central and West Asia and North African(CWANA) for the International Assessment of Agricultural Science & Technology for Development (IAASTD) supported by ICARDA & WB (http://www.agassessment.org). As a development consultant, he has completed the study - Sindh Water Resources Management – Issues and Options sponsored by FAO & World Bank. He has been involved in the Third Party Monitoring and Evaluation of Institutional Reforms in Water Sector under National Drainage Program (NDP) in Sindh supported by the WB, Spate Irrigation System Managed by the Community in Sindh sponsored by MetaMeta - an NGO based at the Netherlands and Agricultural Drainage in Pakistan a case study initiated by the Irrigation and Water Engineering Group, Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands and sponsored by the WB. In addition, he has worked as a team member for the study - Environmental Aspects of Thar (Desert) Coal Mining, sponsored by NOVIB. He was involved in Impact Assessment of Second Aquaculture Project, Impact Assessment of Livestock Sector Project and Baseline Study of Socio Economic Conditions of Riverian Areas in Sindh Pakistan – supported by ADB and Govt of Sindh.

He has performed as Social Development Specialist in Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority (SIDA) sponsored by the WB, ADB and JBIC. He has worked as Principal Social Scientist/Team Leader (for more than 6 years) in action research program on participatory irrigation and water resources management, executed by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) under NDP, sponsored by the WB, and the Royal Netherlands Government. In this project he has trained more than 5,000 farmer organizations, project staff and officials of irrigation department in Punjab and Sindh.

He has worked as Assistant Professor & Lecturer in Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. He has experience of organizing national and international training courses and served as resource persons. He has more than 70 research papers, reports and articles to his credit published and presented in national and international and conferences. He possesses micro computing skills MS - Word, Power Point. Excel, Project, etc.
