With a Masters degree in “Water and Environmental Management” from WEDC, Loughborough University, U.K, and a bachelors degree in civil engineering, I possess over fourteen years of experience in management of participatory development projects at the national and international level. Proven expertise in planning, design, management and evaluation of participatory infrastructure, WATSAN and mutlisectoral area development sector programs with strong emergency preparedness, response and coordination skills.
As a practicing engineer I am expert in planning and design of community infrastructure (e.g. water supply, drainage, sanitation, access, irrigation, forestry etc), using manual and computer application (e.g.: WATER CAD/Flow Master, Loop/Branch/Sewer etc). Supervised implementation of bore/well drilling, installation of hand pumps/turbine/submersible pumps, design of gravel pack, installation and commissioning of gravity flow and pressurized distribution network, buildings, roads, community forestry and irrigation works etc. Fully abreast of technology innovation/experimentation in WATSAN sector and worked on further development of: earthquake safe housing technology (wire mesh panels); and colloidal silver impregnated clay water filters.
Well experienced in formulation of sector policies, specialized municipal service delivery approaches for small towns, villages and urban centers. Expert at establishing water quality monitoring systems, performance benchmarking for utilities, vision development and strategic/business planning for municipal service delivery etc. Well experienced in outcomes focused sanitation promotion approaches (Community led total sanitation, School Led total sanitation) with very good experience in developing BCC strategies, Capacity building strategies, PPP for hygiene promotion, KAP surveys, development of monitoring protocols, etc.
I am a natural trainer/facilitator and have trained a sizeable number of trainers. Very well experienced in establishing knowledge networks. Fully trained in Emergency Preparedness & Response Planning (EPRP), LogFrame/ZOPP, Human Rights Based Approach to Programming (HRBAP), Field Security, DevInfo and GIS, UN's Program Processes & Planning Procedures (PPPP) and Program Management Systems (PROMS) etc. Expert in using planning tools such as Logrframes, MS Project, Primavera based SURETRACK and good knowledge of SPHERE standards etc.
